Oracle Announces Acquisition of Tangosol

REDWOOD SHORES, CA -- Database software maker Oracle announced an agreement to acquire Tangosol.  Financial terms were not disclosed.

Tangosol develops and sells in-memory data grid software.  Data grid software increases application performance by by better managaing a company's IT infrastructure. 

The company's flagship product, Coherence Data Grid, is an enabler of the rapidly-growing space of extreme transaction processing, which is prevalent in the financial services, telecom and travel industries.  Tangosol will be integrated into Oracle's middleware infrastructure products.
